First and foremost, I would like to thank Past COAT President Mr. T.J. Jones for all of his hard work and leadership this past year. We had a successful meeting in Kingsport with great fellowship. Thanks again T.J. for an outstanding job.
Second, I would like to thank Scott County Trustee, Jimmy Byrd for an awesome job as TCTA President. He and the East Tennessee delegation did an outstanding job with our Spring Meeting in Pigeon Forge. Thank you Mr. Jimmy! Your hard work, vision and leadership were second to none.
When I was elected as Henry County Trustee in 2006, I never thought I would be chosen by my peers to serve as TCTA President. The great reputation of the TCTA is not anything that I helped create, but I promise to protect it. So many of you and so many who have gone on before us made the TCTA an elite unit and you have my promise that I will always be ready to relieve, protect and vindicate each of you.
You will also be happy to know that Tipton County Trustee, Kristie Glass Maxwell will be serving as this year’s secretary and I am thankful for willingness to serve. I have already emailed a list of the TCTA Committees, each committee is valuable to the TCTA and I ask that you take a leadership role in your respective committee appointment. I also appreciate Shelby County Trustee, David Lenoir for taking on the responsibility as Legislative Chairman. David will do a great job as always and represent our association with honor.
This year’s Spring Meeting will be at beautiful Paris Landing State Park overlooking Kentucky Lake, May 20th through the 23rd. West Tennessee’s’ own, Tammie Hopper aka ( Jammie Shopper) has already appropriately themed our meeting, “Tank Tops and Flip Flops.” Since this will be Mr. Tom Flemings last Spring Meeting I want us to send him off with a bang. Already on the agenda for the meeting is Minnie Pearl, Howdy!!!!
Again, thank you for this honor and I encourage each of you to get active in COAT and TCTA. As Williamson County Trustee, Mr. Joey Davis so eloquently says, “We have power and influence when we are united!”
Love to All~
